Within the last year, I’ve been reflecting on how I create things in my practice and what it means for me to make things in the digital space verses with my hands. I’ve taken some space from making videos to connect with natural materials, found objects and things that inspire me.
I’ve been experimenting with creating with wood, initiated by my favourite Ash tree being chopped down.
I honoured the life of the Ash by creating some runes from one of their branches. These are some of my favourite things I’ve ever made.
I have worked with other woods, including a storm blown Elder, more Ash, and a huge Sycamore which was cut down near my house to create beads and charms imbued with the energies of the trees from which they came.
